Law Society to host material information update for agents

The Law Society has teamed up with Teal Legal to host an online seminar for estate agents addressing material information.

The webinar will be run by Sally Holdway, director at Teal Legal, who will be joined by two members of The Law Society’s conveyancing committee, Mark Sellers and Sarah Dwight.

The session will provide an update on the material information requirements and how these present an opportunity for closer collaboration between estate agents and solicitors.

It will include a deeper dive into some of the more practical elements which are arising as the new requirements start to bed in. These will include:

· The overlap between ‘Material Information’ and ‘Conveyancing Information’

· How solicitors can support agents in obtaining and verifying material information

· How the conveyancing TA forms can be used for material information purposes

· Earlier instruction of solicitors and how this works in practice, and

· Emerging legal pre-offer services solicitors can provide, such as title fix services.

Sally Holdway, chief executive of Teal Legal: “We’re delighted to support The Law Society in developing this training for estate agents.

“The new material information requirements have prompted many practical questions on how to implement the changes smoothly and effectively and this seminar looks to bridge the gap between legal requirements and practical implementation.”
The session will take place on 31 July and estate agents interested in attending can register their interest at: https://learn.lawsociety.org.uk/product/ta6-update-for-estate-agents-wednesday-31-july-2024/
