Whether it was simply an admin error or not, this is not a good story for Connells, I bet they're kicking themselves over it. This isn't somewhere where they would want their name to be mentioned in the slightest.

A bold move from Ivy Gate - I'm sure they'll feel right at home in one of the wealthiest places in the globe.

It's quite astounding that despite this huge imbalance between supply and demand and the consequent house price rises that there was only a 2% drop in FTB's in the last year! I would have expected it to be a much bigger drop, all things considered. The government keep promising a range of schemes to try and help with the housing crisis, but I see no big changes that will have a dramatic impact, just smokescreens and mirrors if I'm honest.

Back-tracking is a massive understatement if you ask me. They've realised the error of their ways, thank goodness. It's incredibly rare to find vendors who are willing to pay upfront.

So one of the primary reasons that the two estate agencies have chosen OTM is that it has a "beautifuly designed website?" Is that really the key here? If I were a seller or landlord with these agencies that's not what I would want to be hearing.

So it finally seems to be looking up for first-time buyers at least. I wonder whether the supply of homes will decrease further in the next couple of months, especially as buy-to-let and second home owners are likely to rush to buy before April's stamp duty deadline and steal some properties under the noses of these eager first-time buyers?

Certainly a shake-up in Countrywide over the last few months, departure after departure it seems. At a time when the company is changing so rapidly too!

A little sexist with your comments there Lord Elpus? Other than those remarks I do happen to agree, there is certainly room for both models in the industry, without them both having to keep wrestling each other about it.

Of course sellers are able to charge an inflated price with demand at such an out-of-control level, and this looks as if it will only increase further. How many of these 13,000 homes do you think will actually be built though Fake Agent? I'm a little sceptical if I'm honest.

So although the number of first time buyers have decreased since 2014, all be it marginally, we're still expected to view this as buoyant? I'm not surprised numbers aren't high considering the astronomical amount that house prices have risen in the last year alone.

Very cutting comments. OTM seem to just keep glossing over the issues put to them, and now the delay in an overseas expansion which the majority of agents don't want anyway. Predictions for the next 6 months anyone?

So Mr Quirk has returned it seems, creating a storm as always. I almost admire the aggressive tenacity he demonstrates, but I also doubt his calculations. To assume that every high street agent is exploiting their sellers is unfair to say the least, plus, I would like to compare these figures to the prices that eMoov are able to obtain for their sellers compared to traditional estate agents see how that plays out.

So all of their talk about overtaking Zoopla has fallen by the wayside, it seems, which isn't unexpected. To attempt to rival it was silly and arrogant of them, especially with their utterly ridiculous 'one other rule' policy. But it seems that Springett will continue throwing testimonials at us all, in the hope that it will take away from a less than impactful first year in the industry.

Both online and traditional agents could learn a thing from each other it seems, although the findings here hardly seem representative. Service, service service is what agents should really be focusing on, instead of tearing to shreds each others models.

So despite Noel claiming that all is well with OTM and that they are providing them with 'high quality leads' it's telling that Noel failed to provide any concrete figures supporting his words in his statement. Speaks volumes, in my opinion.

Supply shortage is a problem which won't disappear anytime soon, and it looks like it's now affecting the seemingly invicible guys at Rightmove. Yes seasonal slowdown has always been a thing, but to this extent?

Yes I'm not sure if visiting rainy England provides quite the same exciting opportunity that Florida provides either Jonathan! UK agents could certainly learn a thing or two from the US collaborative system, that's for sure!

The government keeps looking for ways to improve the current housing system, but so far they have failed to come up with a housing strategy which provides for the needs of the buyers AND the renters. Hopefully the doubling of the funding for the Right to Buy scheme will help buyers get a foot on the ladder, but with house prices predicted to rise astronomically, it's as if prospective buyers are going around in circles. They are given something with one hand, yet it gets taken away with the other.

Strange name, innovative idea. It's without doubt that this isn't a polished product, but it has potential. Connecting buyers and sellers with ease, it certainly has its unique selling points. Interesting to see if this one breaks through the net where others have failed.

The slowing of house prices was inevitable, it couldn't continue in that out of control way for much longer. Plus if George Osborne actually sticks to what he said in the Autumn Statement and builds anywhere near 400,000 new affordable homes then they might be on the way to easing the supply demand crisis too. (I'll hold my breath for that one).

It's not just families that are feeling the squeeze either. A high percentage of those living in London are likely to be living in a property smaller than what is necessary. News stories seem to be popping up everywhere recently where properties of minuscule size are selling for hundreds of thousands, it's just a case of get what's affordable, regardless of whether the space fits your needs.

Surely London prices were bound to stabilise though, they couldn't continue at the same uncontrollable rate. But no doubt prices will increase further with the introduction of Crossrail and the Night Tube in the capital, making it even harder for first time buyers to get a foot on the ladder. I don't so far see a solution. All I see is unaffordable living spreading outwards at a rapid rate.

I can't think of a month, maybe a week even, where there hasn't been some kind of controversy surrounding the company, it's like they thrive on it. Clearly the boss has the same mentality, divide and conquer!

Surprise surprise, we're hearing from Russell Quirk, thought it had been a bit quiet recently! With Russell Quirk's relentless determination I'm sure he'll give cracking the American property sector a good go! It's an impressive feat to have already crowdfunded £800,000.

Finally someone has said "no" to Foxtons, and I for one am pleased with the decision. London is fast disintegrating into a hub for wealthy estate agents, so this decision is a step in the right direction to preserve some of the capital's community spirit. Wonder what Foxtons will have to say in response?

@Nigel Poole - Here's Rook's comment from above - "I have very much enjoyed being a part of the Agents' Mutual board and my estate agency firm remains one of its biggest supporters. I take great satisfaction in what has been achieved so far and remain firmly confident about the prospects for the business” This doesn't really give much away, or sound particularly convincing though does it? Who knows what the future will hold for AM but the cracks are certainly beginning to show, and at a frequent rate.

Interesting to hear that someone has finally said 'no' to estate agents. Although if the premises isn't in use then the decision does seems a tad silly. The last thing we need is more empty buildings.

Moving away from the hustle and bustle of London has certainly been a consideration for me, although I'm a little frightened to take the plunge. But with seaside locations such as Brighton being only a short commute from the capital it seems all the more viable. The cheaper house prices make a convincing case too!

Definitely not a great start for the Conservatives. Issuing a statement before altering it within a day, madness! This being said, highly pleased that Brandon Lewis has retained his place over Mark Francois, I feel he can really make a difference. Let's face it, i doubt the industry would have had much respect for Francois, knowing what we know about his publicised expenses scandal!
