A legal action group is seeking support from solicitors to call a vote of no confidence in the Law Society
The Property Lawyers Action Group (PLAG), launched last year, has initiated the procedure for a special general meeting (SGM) to hold a vote of no confidence in the professional body’s leadership.
The group’s main gripe is the Law Society’s support for upfront material information rules and the creation of a new TA6 form, which includes updated questions covering parts B and C of the National Trading Standards Estate and Letting Agency Team material information guidance.
The professional body said the aim is that having better informed buyers could help reduce both the time the process takes and the number of sales that fall through.
But PLAG claims material information is being imposed on the property sector without sufficient consultation.
It is concerned that this will escalate into mandatory use of upfront Information which will replicate the many failures of Home Information Packs.
The group requires 100 signatures from solicitors to call for the SGM.
